Racing for the 2010 TT got underway
today for Davy Morgan Racing with the
Superbike TT and in a competitive race
Davy was going to have to work hard to
get any sort of result. From he left Glencutchery
Road he was determined to do the best
he could and an opening lap from a standing
start at 124.502mph saw him move up from
his starting number to 17th place. This
was also his fastest ever TT Lap, which
he had waited four years to better.
On lap two it was another lap at over
124mph, slightly slower than his first,
but enough to move him up to 16th place
in the standings heading in to the first
pit stop. It was a solid if not spectacular
pit stop and at the end of the third lap
he was still in 16th place and pushing
hard. At the end of lap four Davy had
dropped a place to 17th when he got caught
up in some traffic which saw him lap at
123.921mph. As he headed out onto lap
five after his second pit stop he was
still in 17th place a couple short of
his pre-race target of a top fifteen finish.
With two laps to go it was to get a little
interesting for Davy when a bracket broke
holding the fuel tank in place at the
start of lap five and he had to hold it
in place over the bumps as it started
to move around. It did not deter the Saintfield
Lorry Driver and he pushed on and was
up to 14th place with a lap to go. It
was getting harder as the tank got lighter
it was moving around even more, but he
dug in and upped his lap time again with
a lap of 18 min 10.12 secs at 124.599mph
to consolidate his 14th Place an an excellent
finish and of course another best ever
lap time.
There was more good news for Davy Morgan
after the race when it was announced that
his 14th Place result was good enough
to earn him first place and 25 points
towards the 2010 TT Privateers Championship.
Brilliant.
A delighted Davy commented, "I
am well pleased, i absolutely love riding
the Strangford Holiday Park Suzuki its
class and today it was mega. Apart from
the bracket breaking on the tank, it never
missed a beat and to up my best ever time
was a bonus and a bit of a relief as it
has stood since 2006. I knew nothing about
the Privateers Championship thing so i
was delighted when i was told about this
afterwards, so i just need to push on
now in the other classes and see where
i end up."
"I want to thank everyone involved
with Davy Morgan Racing for their help
and support alraedy this past week, there
are too many to mention by name and i
hope todays results and hopefully some
more over the next week can be enjoyed
by them as they all play their part big
or small. Especially CSC Branson &
Strangford Holiday Park for supplying
the bikes, Colin and the guys at 01RaceFX
who have the bikes and team infrastructure
looking really good, Arai helmets who
keep my lids in tip top condition and
my DM#71RR Supporters Club for their continued
help along with all my other sponsors
who keep me on track."
"I want to say a special thankyou
to my Team Principle, Steve and Trevor
of Strangford Holiday Park who put their
faith in me this year and i hope i rewarded
some of that faith today and they enjoyed
the result."
